VANCOUVER – A new Indian Consul General has arrived in Vancouver to replace the last one that left.
Ravi Shankar Aisola, a career diplomat who has done his M. A. English from the Central University of Hyderabad, arrived in Vancouver and took over duties from August 7. He presided over the Independence Day ceremonies last week.
Aisola joined the Indian Foreign Service in 1986 and has served in different capacities in Indian Missions in Paris, Abidjan, Damascus & Budapest.
Before his posting to Vancouver(Canada), Aisola was Joint Secretary/Head of MEA Branch Secretariat in Hyderabad, India.
Aisola is accompanied by his wife Priti, who is a writer and novelist. Her novel ‘See Paris from Me’ was published by Penguin India. The novel is set in Paris, Budapest and Hyderabad. Her travelogue is to be published soon by Wisdom Tree Publisher.
She is working on her second novel now.
Priti, who has an M.Phil from Central University of Hyderabad. has lived in several countries as per travels of her husband. She was in France twice, and in Ivory Coast, Syria and Hungary. In these countries she taught English Language and Literature to middle and high school students at International schools. She has also taught English as a Foreign Language to children and adults. Now she lives in Hyderabad.
