It is with heavy heart that we announce the passing of our beloved mother Sardarni Gurdev Kaur Bal on March 2, 2022 at the age of 92 at Surrey Memorial Hospital.
She was the daughter of late S. Munsha Singh Basra and late Sdn. Niranjan Kaur Basra. She was born in Phagwara, MohalaAratiya District, Kapurthala. She received her early education in Phagwara and in 1952 completed her Giani and 93 completed her J.B.T.
In 1946, she married her husband late S. Sarbjit Singh Bal (from Sathiala), and had 4 children, 1 daughter Avinash Kaur Chahal and 3 sons: late Bhupinder Singh Bal, S. Harinderpal Singh Bal, and S.Nirpal Singh Bal.
She worked as a teacher for over 20 years, impacting lives of her students and families she met. On March 1, 1979, she took an early retirement to move to Canada with her family to create a better life. In 1979, she moved to Surrey, BC and worked towards providing a bright future for generations. She enjoyed playing Dholki and singing folk songs. She was an active member of Surrey-Delta Indo-Canadian Seniors Society.
She is survived by her sons and daughter, 12 grand children and 16 great-grand children.
She was truly the greatest teacher, a teacher of compassion, love and fearlessness. Her presence, her love, warm energy and charismatic smile will be greatly missed.
He funeral will be held on Sunday March 13, 2022, at 10 AM at Valley View Funeral Home, 14644 72nd Avenue, Surrey.
Bhog will be at 12 PM at Sri Guru Singh Sabha Gurdwara located at 8115, 132nd Street, Surrey.
