The City of Surrey’s business landscape, City Wide Produce, in collaboration with Orion Construction, broke ground on a new 26,680 sq. ft. facility in Campbell Heights. This purpose-built facility is designed to strengthen the city’s agritech sector, triple its workforce as the organization grows, and expand access to fresh produce in the region.
Founded over 14 years ago as a local business, City Wide Produce has deep roots in Surrey, where the company has grown from a small operation into a major Western Canadian distributor of fresh produce. “We’ve always believed in the motto ‘You Grow, We Grow’—it’s been at the heart of our journey,” said Gopal Gupta, Co-Founder and Chief Produce Officer at City Wide Produce. “Surrey has supported us every step of the way, from our early days to this exciting expansion. This facility allows us to give back to the community that has supported our growth by providing greater access to fresh produce and creating new job opportunities for local residents.”
Mayor Brenda Locke highlighted the importance of City Wide Produce’s investment in Surrey’s future. As Surrey continues to grow, facilities like City Wide Produce’s new hub are exactly what we need to support our thriving economy,” said Mayor Locke. “With the significant number of jobs anticipated, this facility contributes to Surrey’s goal of becoming a center for economic opportunity and sustainability. The impact will be felt across our community and reinforces Surrey’s commitment to sustainable growth.” The Campbell Heights facility will be equipped with advanced storage solutions, including temperature- and humidity-controlled zones that ensure produce freshness and quality, a vital component for serving North America and the Lower Mainland. The layout and design of the facility prioritize efficiency in storage and distribution, enabling City Wide Produce to increase the volume and variety of fresh produce it provides. With expanded capacity, City Wide will be able to serve a broader network of retailers and restaurants, supporting Surrey’s agricultural community and reinforcing its role as a central hub in the region’s food supply chain.
