Suspect Wanted In The Killing Of A South Asian Man From Toronto Arrested In Surrey

TORONTO – A 29-year-old man has been returned to Alberta to face a second degree murder charge in connection with the discovery of a body inside a charred vehicle outside of Airdrie.

On September 18, emergency crews responded to a vehicle fire in a ditch near the intersection of Township Road 280 and Range Road 283, northeast of the city of Airdrie. Once the fire was extinguished, the body of 33-year-old Mohammed Saqib was located within the car.

The following week, RCMP charged two brothers, 20-year-old Theo Wheyee and 28-year-old Julius Wheyee, in connection with Saqib’s death. An arrest warrant was issued for a third suspect, 29-year-old Saad Mohamed Osman.

Police say they’ve arrested two men in connection with the death of a man whose body was found in a burned-out car near Airdrie on September 19.

Last Friday, November 20, Osman was located and apprehended by officers at an undisclosed location in Surrey, B.C.

Osman was transported to Alberta where he remains in police custody. The 29-year-old has been charged with second is scheduled to make a closed-circuit court appearance on Thursday, December 10.
