SURREY: The BC Unit of Tarksheel (Rationalist) Society Canada organized the Annual Drama Mela at Punjab Banquet Hall on June 18.
The play “Main Kathe Gaya Nahin” was presented by Surinder Sharma. The play is written by Canadian writer Kulwinder Khaira, directed by Rajinder Singh. The music is composed by director R Sheen and Bai Amolak Singh is the lyricist.
Sharma said that the play depicts ideology of Shaheed Bhagat Sing. It depicts suffering of Indian students coming to Canada to study. The play starts with the story of a student from a poor family thinking like Shaheed Bhagat Singh.
He dreams of changing the society but there comes a time when he has to take a decision to come to Canada to study. It is the story of hardships he faces after coming to Canada. At the end, the student learns that his mother was gone forever, longing to meet him.
The audience gave a standing ovation. Sharma introduced supporting actors Amaninder Dhillon, daughter Vivek and Kusam Lata who is Sharma ji’s wife.
The drama left an indelible impression on the audience.
Nirmal Kingra, secretary, gave information about the program from a scientific point of view in a hall packed with audience.
Parminder Swaich, president BC, read his thought-provoking poem ‘I am guilty’ while welcoming everyone. He also thanked Shamsher Singh, Manager of the Banquet Hall, who always makes the hall available free of charge.
Sadhu Singh Gill thanked all the media and also Red FM 93.1, Connect FM 91.5, that promote news about the One Lakh Dollar Challenge of Rational Society, free of cost.
Pyaara Singh Chahal, the original singer of Lok Sangeet Mandali Bhadore who has retired from the post of SDO and came to Canada, performed his 2 ghazals “Dardand De Darya Vagade Ne Ki Karia, Aukhe Soukhe Sah Vagade Ne Ki Karia” and “Bhar Chakki Fir”.
Pancham, a young member of the society, read a very sensitive poem and changed the mood.
Before the play started, Avtar Bai Ji, National President, explained in detail the entire cover up about the fraudulent claims of hypocritical astrologers, tantrics, Gem sellers, so called sadhs saints and superstitions and their fraudulent business and economic, intellectual. He urged to avoid physical exertion.
He praised science and research in saving lives discoveries of medical science. He urged audience to have trust in any of our loved ones and seek their blessings in case of illness.
He also informed that not even one of them have come forward to win this prize money? He said that we can help the people who have been robbed by these hypocrites.
A book stall was also set up by the society.
