Police search for 11 suspects linked to violence at Brampton temple protest

Police in Peel Region are working to identify 11 persons of interest who were allegedly involved in violence that broke out during protests in Brampton and Mississauga last month.

Recently police released photographs of several suspects who are allegedly responsible for various offences including assault and assault with weapons.

In a press release, police said investigators are asking for help to identify individuals involved in criminality during the November protest incidents in Brampton and Mississauga. “Included in this release are images of persons of interest or suspects responsible for offences that include assault, assault with a weapon, assault causing bodily harm, assault police officer and public incitement of hatred. Investigators are asking for your help in identifying them.”

A Strategic Investigative Team was formed to investigate several offences that occurred during and after protests at a Mandir on The Gore Road in Brampton as well as related incidents at the Westwood Mall in Mississauga.   

Investigators continue to analyze hundreds of videos of the incidents and are working to identify additional suspects involved and anticipate further arrests.

The protests were part of a series of demonstrations, including one at a Hindu Sabha Mandir in Brampton, where protesters were seen waving Khalistani flags and protesting against Indian Consulate Life certificate camp. The protest then took a violent turn and chaos ensued.

Later the same night, two more demonstrations began at two different locations in Mississauga, at the Sri Guru Singh Sabha and the Westwood Mall. Police had reported a presence of weapons at the sites of these protests and dozens of officers were seen in the area.
