Surrey RCMP Drug Unit seized a large quantity of illicit drugs, illegal firearms and cash stemming from an investigation into a drug trafficking network.
In August 2023, Surrey RCMP Drug Unit initiated an investigation into a drug trafficking group which was believed to be operating out of Surrey.
Over the course of several months, investigators gathered evidence which led to an initial search warrant that was executed on October 17, 2023 in the 7400-block of 184 Street, Surrey.
Subsequently, four additional locations were identified. On January 31, 2024, police executed search warrants at the following locations:
- Residence in the 19400-block of 68th Avenue, Surrey;
- Residence in the 9100-block of 152nd Street, Surrey;
- Residence in the 2100-block of Kelly Avenue Coquitlam; and
- Storage unit in the 1100-block of Kingsway Avenue in Coquitlam.
During the execution of the search warrants, four people were arrested and later released pending further investigation. Surrey RCMP Drug Unit is continuing to advance the investigation and will be submitting a report to Public Prosecution Service of Canada recommending charges.
“Surrey RCMP Drug Unit focuses on disrupting drug trafficking networks to prevent overdose deaths and to stop the toxic drug supply in our communities,” said Surrey RCMP Media Relations Officer, Cpl. Sarbjit K. Sangha. “It is believed that this group was supplying street level drug traffickers with cocaine, methamphetamine, fluorofentanyal and GHB throughout Surrey, Langley and Coquitlam.”
