AMRITSAR – Condemning the protest against the Prime Minister during his visit to the Golden Temple, the SGPC said the incident outside the shrine was intolerable and carried out by unscrupulous elements.
The protest by supporters of Anna Hazare before the shrine was an “intolerable act”, SGPC president Avtar Singh Makkar said. He said the protest against the Prime Minister was the handiwork of “unscrupulous elements”.
Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and his wife Gursharan Kaur were shown black flags by supporters of anti-graft crusader Anna Hazare at the Golden Temple here.
Delhi Gurdwara Management Committee president Parmjit Singh Sarna alleged the protest took place with the knowledge of the SGPC and the Punjab government.
Akali Dal leader Bikram Singh Majithia said the people had shown black flags to the PM as “they are angry and frustrated with corrupt practices of the UPA government”.
