ROPAR – Assistant Returning Officer Harjot Kaur on Monday served notices on district Congress president Brinder Singh Dhillon and former Congress district president Amarjit Singh Saini for alleged violation of the code of conduct. A printing press has also been issued a notice for similar offence.

Congress candidate from Anandpur Sahib Manish Tewari was in the town today to hold a rally at a banquet hall. Tewari first went to the residence of Saini where a gathering of Congress workers was waiting for him. Saini had made arrangements for a public meeting in the lawns of his home by putting up tents, chairs, public address system with refreshments. The SDM said Saini did not inform the authorities regarding the public meeting.

Dhillon was issued notice for installing hoardings of Tewari in the town without taking required permission. The printing press was issued notice for providing the printing material to political parties without giving the required information to the authorities.

Meanwhile interacting with mediapersons at Rupnagar, Tewari alleged that the SAD was trying to scuttle probe into the sacrilege and police firing incidents by lodging false complaints with the ECI. On the occasion, AAP spokesperson Satbir Singh Ahluwalia joined the Congress.
