NEW DELHI – With SatyaNadella becoming CEO at softwaregiant Microsoft, 10 Indianorigin persons holding top postsat global corporations managebusinesses worth about $350billion.Nadella, the Hyderabad-borncricket loving, engineering executive,who has been withMicrosoft for over 20 years, hasjoined the league of IndraNooyi, Lakshmi Mittal, AnshuJain and Ivan Menzes, amongmany other Indian-origin personsat the helm at large conglomeratesheadquarteredabroad. There are many otherIndians heading the businessesat relatively smaller companiesabroad, specially in the IT sector,but at least 12 large companieshave got India-born chiefexecutives. International magazineTime once termed CEOsas India’s leading “export” andsaid that the subcontinent couldbe “the ideal training ground forglobal bosses”.Interestingly, the total size ofbusinesses managed by just 10Indian-origin CEOs globallyexceed the total exports fromIndia, which stood at about$300 billion in the last fiscal andis estimated to be around $325billion in the current fiscal endingnext month.
