OBITUARY – DALJIT SINGH DHILLON

It is with profound sadness that the Dhillon family announces the passing of Daljit Singh Dhillon at the age of 69. He was lovingly known as Channi.

Daljit was born on March 3, 1946 in Kahuta, Punjab, to Mukhtar Singh Dhillon and Gurbachan Kaur Dhillon. He was the youngest of six children.  He came to Vancouver, Canada, in  1969.  He married his wife, Gurmeet Kaur Dhillon on November 17, 1974 in Amritsar, India.

Together, Gurmeet and Daljit founded and managed a successful dry cleaning chain and Daljit’s entrepreneurial courage also led him to start successful business ventures in import-export and trade. Daljit loved life and was always curious, open hearted, loving, determined, and had an unwavering generosity of spirit.

A devoted father and grandfather, he taught his children and grandchildren to be kind, compassionate and loving. He loved spending time with his friends, family and most of all, his grandchildren–every moment a celebration of life and always reminded those around him to live in the moment. He lived by those words.

Daljit is survived by his wife, Gurmeet; his son Vinnie; his daughter Pavan; his daughter in law Veenu and his grandchildren Jovin and Aanav and the warmest and most loving extended family and an incredible circle of friends all over the world.

He will be dearly missed for his warm and loving smile, hearty laugh, and an enviable humility that left an impression on everyone who was fortunate enough to cross his path.

Funeral services will be held on November 22, 2015 at 2:00 pm at the Riverside Funeral home located at 7410 Hopcott Road, Delta, B.C.
