SURREY: Sher Vancouver, a registered charity for LGBTQ+ South Asians and their friends, families, and allies, havelaunched official new website to coincide with its 15th anniversary (www.shervancouver.com).

The new Sher Vancouver official website is the first point of intake for crisis counselling program and various in-person and online peer support groups, as well as providing numerous resources for the LGBTQ+ and South Asian communities.

The website features a clean and vibrant design, making it easy for visitors to navigate and access the information they need. Along with information about their programs and services, visitors can also learn about Sher Vancouver’s social justice films and film screenings, events, sponsors, partners, and opportunities, including volunteer, practicum, board opportunities, and jobs.

“Our new website provides a platform for our arts and cultural and social service programming,” says Sher Vancouver Founder Alex Sangha. “We are thrilled to offer such a comprehensive resource to support our LGBTQ+ South Asian community and allies.”

One of the main features of the website is their crisis counselling program, providing confidential support to those in need. Additionally, Sher Vancouver offers three in-person peer support groups, including The Dosti Project Monthly Meet-up for adults, Pyar Is Pyar for youth, and Sher Lotus for women, with trans, non-binary, and two-spirit people welcome in all groups. Three online support groups on Facebook are also available, along with information about their intake, information, and referral process.

Visitors to the website can also explore numerous resources in the LGBTQ+ and South Asian community, meet our board of directors and team, and learn about our mission, vision, news, and press releases. The website even features a Sher Vancouver Podcast, providing a platform for BIPOC and LGBTQ+ voices.

The launch of the new website coincides with Sher Vancouver’s 15th anniversary celebration, billed as Desi-Q, which will be celebrated at Bollywood Banquet Hall in Surrey on Saturday, July 8th, 2023 at 6 pm. Tickets are available on Eventbrite.  The cultural gala is nearly 60% sold out!

The official Sher Vancouver website was designed by our in-house graphic designer Jaskamal Singh, who did a stunning job of bringing our vision to life. “The colors are vibrant, and the website is easy to navigate,” adds Sangha.
