Sikh Motorcycle Club of BC hosted an event to commemorate the 25th Anniversary of helmet exemption law in BC and to call for similar changes in other provinces of Canada where Sikhs are not allowed to ride motorcycles without a helmet. Back in 1999 some community members fought for helmet exemption in BC. In July 1999 there was an exemption made to the Motor Vehicle Act and Sec. 194 (3) was created to allow Sikhs to wear Dastar while riding their motorcycles.
