Stabbing in Whalley sends woman to hospital

SURREY: Surrey RCMP informed about aninvestigation after reports of a shooting in 10400-block of 140B Street. The initial investigation reported that a woman was shot inside the Whalley residence on January 6 morning. Later RCMP updated the information that further investigation into the report of a shooting revealed that the woman was stabbed, not shot.  “Although the victim was not shot, there is evidence that a shooting did occur at the location. The victim remains in hospital in stable condition,” said Vanessa Munn, Surrey RCMP Media Relations Unit.

 Surrey RCMP General Investigations Unit assumed conduct of the investigation and the crime scene was secured for a search warrant.  Investigators believed it to be an isolated incident, “with no active threat to public safety. “
