Sukhbir Woos Christian Vote Bank

GURDASPUR – Eye on the coming parliamentaryelections, Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir SinghBadal addressed a Christaian congregation heretoday.The Christians have a sizeable presence inthe constituency. A leader of the communityclaimed that some decades ago, they would vote enbloc for the Congress. But this had changed overthe years. Sukhbir Badal arrived at the venue threehours late. This actually turned out to be a blessing in disguise for the organisers.Had he arrived on time (12.30 pm), he would have addressed empty chairs. Akaliarea chiefs and organisers hastened to ensure that every seat was occupied befiorethe VVIP’s arrival. Sukhbir claimed the Congress would be doomed if it chose toproject Rahul Gandhi as its prime ministerial candidate. Wile taking pot shots atthe Congress, he praised the BJP for “truly being a people’s party.”
