The presence of bacteria in the mouth should be managed and controlled properly so that they do not cause gum diseases such as gingivitis and periodontitis. And there are three really simple ways you can do this.

  1. There are about 400 different types of bacteria in the mouth, 15 of which directly cause gum disease. So to make sure these harmful microorganisms do not end up further multiplying inside your mouth, practice proper teeth cleaning by brushing them at least twice a day. Also make sure that the gum lines and spaces in between the teeth are thoroughly cleaned by running floss through them once a day.
  1. If you smoke, then you must highly consider quitting smoking as soon as you can. Smoke robs the gums of oxygen, the vital element which provide the gums the ability to ward off bacteria attack.
  1. Professional oral cleaning should be sought out every six months, more often if you have gum disease. Doing so will ensure that all the plaque buildup will be properly removed so that they do not become breeding grounds for bacteria.
  1. Visit an orthodontist specialist to ensure your teeth are well aligned to facilitate easier and more efficient brushing and flossing.
