TORONTO – Three Indo-Canadian men have been charged with stealing a truck full of cheese after Police found the tractor trailer loaded with cheese, which was stolen and crashed in Vaughan.

The thieves have been identified as 36-year-old Harpreet Singh, 19-year-old Saurav Kumar and 31-year-old Kulvir Bains.

All three have been charged with theft over $5,000 and possession of property obtained by crime.

Investigators said the truck was stolen in the area of Steeles Avenue East and Torbram Road in Brampton on Tuesday night. Officers were able to use the truck’s GPS to track it to Vaughan, reported CTV News.

At approximately 1 a.m., York Regional Police were called to the area of Highway 7 and Vaughan Valley Boulevard, where it appeared that the truck was stopped. As officers drove to the scene, the truck began to move again.

Police caught up with the truck, but the driver refused to stop, YRP said in a statement.

“Out of concern for public safety officers did not pursue the tractor trailer,” the statement said. Several minutes later, police received a call that a tractor trailer had crashed in the area of Highways 7 and 27.

A canine unit and members of the Ontario Provincial Police were called in, and a male suspect was arrested after being found driving a car near Royal Crest Drive.

Two more suspects were arrested as they tried to get into a taxi nearby, police said.
