Trudeau Government Needs To Make Immigration Rules Tighter

Dear Editor

I believe the Justin Trudeau government must make immigration rules tighter. Due to a massive influx of students from India it’s become more difficult and expensive for local students to obtain admission into colleges. They can also forget finding part-time work, students and employers are abusing employment conditions provided by Immigration Canada.

These foreign students should educate themselves in their native countries and apply for immigration on the points basis. Our current infrastructure can barely handle its current population. I’m happy to see foreign nannies won’t receive permanent residency after 2018.

Many are unqualified and lack desire to look after the sponsor client. I’ve personally experienced this twice. Due to permanent disabilities and lack of income we felt it would be mutually beneficial to sponsor a nanny from India. The first nanny, a young lady, completed the required course and took wonderful care.

However, the second nanny was extremely negligent and unempathetic. We discovered her daily visits to friends and family were shifts working for cash at a local eatery. She was warned that she could lose her visa, but she chose to continue.

My care suffered, and I felt enormous mental stress which took a toll on my body.  Had she not been enthralled with getting her PR I might have been spared torturous conditions. With immigration restrictions imposed I hope only legitimate nannies immigrate to Canada. We already have enough home-grown bad apples
