Coquitlam RCMP is looking for witnesses and video to help identify the suspects who attempted to lure a child into their vehicle as the child walked home.
On Tuesday, May 9, 2023 at 3:21 p.m. Coquitlam Frontline officers responded to a report of an attempted child luring in the area of Robson Drive and Purcell Drive in Coquitlam. While a 10-year-old girl was walking home from Panorama Heights Elementary school located at 1455 Johnson Street in Coquitlam, they were approached by two unknown adult females in a vehicle. The suspects asked the girl to get into the vehicle for “treats”.
The girl ran away to a nearby Coquitlam City Bylaw officer for assistance.
The suspect vehicle fled the scene.
“We applaud this girl who immediately found a trusted adult for assistance and contacted Police”, said Corporal Alexa Hodgins from the Coquitlam RCMP. “We would like to thank the Coquitlam City Bylaw officer for providing quick assistance and safety during this concerning incident.”
The suspect females can be described as middle-aged with one of the females having ginger-coloured hair.
