A very large crowd attended the Vancouver Nagar Kirtan last weekend. The parade took its traditional 10 KM route where people walked or waited for hours while enjoying the celebrations. Every year there are new additions and this year there was a noticeable increase not only with attendance from our community but also the Asian and Caucasian communities. Members of Sikh Youth Vancouver and Sangat also congratulated the community on this joyous day. They celebrated by holding the Langar service at the Gurdwara all day on Sunday. “This is a day of great celebration. Vasakhi is extra special this year because the Gurdwara has a new look. There are many volunteers that gave their time, service and funds. On behalf of the community we would like to thank and honor all those individuals for doing such a great job. Special recognition has to be given to the girls that did the interior decorating and all the guys on Team Seva. Thanks to their hard work the Gurdwara has a different atmosphere – a sense of new tranquility”, said a SYV spokesperson.
