VANCOUVER – Veteran Indo-Canadian soccer coach was recognized by Whitecaps FC during BC Coaches Week. BC Soccer learning facilitator Joe Jhutty was recognized and thanked for over 30 years of dedication to coaching and training others in BC.
In being asked how Active Start benefits young soccer players today Jhutti stated:
“As Active Start is the introductory level for the youngest ages, this course offers a balance between classroom and the field sessions but most importantly it gives the participant take away material (drills, videos and session plans) so the coach can enjoy his/her practices. This way the players can be introduced to the game and in a fun and challenging environment.”
In addition to delivering the formal pathway of coaching certification in the province, BC Soccer is proud to support supplemental coaching-education opportunities such as the Tim Horton’s Whitecaps FC coaching clinic.
Whitecaps FC would like to invite all coaches to join our own head coach Martin Rennie and technical coaching staff next Sunday, September 23, 2012 from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. P.T. at BC Place for our free Tim Horton’s Whitecaps FC Coaching Clinic. Register now for your chance to gain expert advice and coaching tips from our Major League Soccer coaching staff.
British Columbia Coaches Week kicked off Friday, September 14. Last week, Vancouver Whitecaps FC together with BC Soccer would like to extend our appreciation to the many BC coaches that dedicate their time and share their knowledge and abilities with over 120,000 registered soccer players across the province.
Earlier this year, BC Soccer, in partnership with Coaches BC organized a group of 75 experienced coaches to deliver soccer-specific community coach stream courses to educate its valued members and coaches across BC. We will spend this week highlighting each phase of the workshops and recognizing the coaches that helped facilitate them. The first phase of this multi-level coaching pathway is called Active Start. This workshop is specific to training U-4 to U-6 age kids, focusing on learning the skills of the game while having fun.
