Vice Mayor Kashmir Gill To Become Mayor Of Yuba City

SACRAMENTO – Vice-Mayor Kashmir Singh Gill(Kash Gill) will be sworn in asMayor of Yuba City in Californiafor the second time in the city’shistory.Gill was Mayor of YubaCity in 2010 and was re-electedto City Council for 2012, receivingthe highest votes cast for anycandidate in the election.Gill was the Mayor of YubaCity from 2009 to 2010 and acouncil member from 2006 to2010.Gill emigrated with his familyfrom Lakhsian village ofPunjab as a young child, and theentire family worked in the farmingsector. His family is still involvedin farming. Gill has got aBachelor’s degree in agriculturalbusiness from California StateUniversity, Chico. He is also agraduate of California AgriculturalLeadership Programme andthe Graduate School of BankingBoulder, Colorado.Gill was sworn in as YubaCity’s Mayor in November 2009.Even with the town’s large populationof Punjabis, he was thefirst Punjabi-American and thefirst Sikh to hold the title. Moreover,he was one of the first Indianmayors in America.Gill is currently working atMechanics Bank as Vice President- Senior Relationship Manager.He is an active member ofthe Republican Party.
