Celebration Of World Interfaith Harmony Week<\/p>\n

The Global Clergy Association of Canada, in association with North Wood United Church, will celebrate World Interfaith Harmony on February 6, 2016<\/p>\n
at 8885-156 St, North Wood United Church in Surrey. The spiritual leaders of twelve faiths will offer\u00a0 peace prayer and deliver a short speech on the theme- \u201cNavigating Peace Through Faith\u201d and it will include a piece of\u00a0 devotional song by the students of Naad Foundation. The program will be from 1.00 to 4.00PM and refreshment will be served at the end.\u00a0 IT IS FREE AND ALL ARE WELCOME. Caste, Beef, And Hindu Nationalist Violence In India<\/p>\n
South Asian Network for Secularism and Democracy (SANSAD) in partnership with Radical Desi and Chetna Association are holding a public forum on Caste, Beef, and Hindu nationalist violence in India<\/p>\n

Screening: \u201cCaste on the Menu Card\u201d, a film by students of Tata Institute of Social Sciences was banned from screening by the Govt. of India at a festival on October 31, 2015. The film focuses on the consumption of beef in Mumbai to explore the relation between caste, occupation, diet, and discrimination.<\/p>\n
Jai Birdi will speak on the current situation of Dalits in India. Background: There have been a number of attacks on Muslims in India in recent months, including the lynching by a Hindu mob of Mohammad Akhlaq in Dadri, UP last September on the rumor that he had consumed beef. Several states have banned cow slaughter and many have been targets of violence on suspicion of trading in or consuming beef.<\/p>\n
