CHANDIGARH – Shiromani Akali Dal MLA and former Indian hockey captain Pargat Singh got injured after he was allegedly thrashed over a parking issue at the Sector 9 inner market here last night.<\/p>\n
The police arrested the accused, Kamaljit Singh, a resident of Sector 22, and released him on bail later in the night.<\/p>\n
At the time of the incident, the MLA was with his wife. He suffered fractures on two fingers. The police, who were stationed nearby, caught the youth from the spot.<\/p>\n
According to the police, the incident happened around 9 pm when the MLA. Accompanied by his staff and guards, the MLA had gone to visit the Sector 9 market from the MLA hostel. While leaving the parking, he asked Kamaljit to move his Innova car aside as it was parked on the way.<\/p>\n
This led to a verbal spat between the two and the accused, in his mid-twenties, allegedly started abusing Pargat. When he protested, the youth assaulted him. The youth hit him with some object, which left two fingers of his right hand fractured.<\/p>\n
