NAKODAR – In yet another incident of police high handedness, a 13-year-old boy was allegedly tortured during illegally detention at the Mehatpur police station for 22 hours.
The police had been reportedly pressuring the boy to admit to his involvement in drug trafficking. The victim was restored to the family by a warrant officer of the Punjab and Haryana High Court.
The victim, a resident of Dharme Dian Chhana village in Nakodar, has suffered injuries on his foot. He has been admitted to the Civil Hospital, Nakodar.
Narinder Bhargav, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Jalandhar Rural, said Daler Singh, Sub Inspector, had been suspended.
