MOHALI – The long-cherished wish of Kulbir Singh to see his 22-year-old daughter in a bridal ensemble after she completed her studies was dashed to the ground the moment he saw Amandeep Kaur’s body draped in a white cloth. The girl was shot dead at Mohali last evening by her jilted psychopath after she refused the proposal to marry him.
Just 10 days ago, Kulbir had allowed Amandeep to do a course in programming training, so she could pursue her career in information technology (IT). Tears rolled down from his moist eyes as an inconsolable Kulbir repented his decision to send her daughter to study at Mohali. At the Phase VI government hospital morgue, where autopsy was done on the body, a distraught Kulbir said a chocked voice that she was the star of the family of agriculturists from Dholewal village in Ferozepur.
His grief was punctuated with busts of anger against Gurpreet Singh of Razzowala village, about 12 km from victim’s village. Still to come to terms with the reality, the uncles of the victim remembered her saying that she always wanted to make the family proud.
“Amandeep wanted to become a computer expert. We always supported and encouraged her for studying further,” said Kulbir Singh.
After completing her BEd and Masters of Computer Applications (MCA), Amandeep joined a private computer centre here to do advance PHP Programming Training Course last Wednesday along with her cousin Navneet Kaur, also a resident of the same village, and two other friends of the area.
Amandeep Kaur had left her home to stay outside for the first time. The girls have been staying as paying guests in a house at Phase V.
