AMRITSAR – The police arrested a Dubai-based NRI, Kulpreet Singh alias Neeta Deol, in the sensational Sukha Kahlwan murder case.

Neeta, belonging to Moga, was arrested from Sri Guru Ram Dass Ji International Airport here. One of the nine prime suspects in the case, he was arrested as soon as he alighted from the Dubai-Amritsar flight at the airport.

Running a transport business in Dubai, he was handed over to a team of the Faridkot police, which arrived here to take his custody in the case.

Sukha, a sharpshooter facing trail in 40 criminal cases registered across the country, was gunned down near Phagwara by his rival gang on January 21 while he was being taken to Nabha Jail from Jalandhar after a court hearing in a murder case.

Charanjit Singh, Faridkot SSP, said Neeta was a sharpshooter and lived in Dubai. “Kulpreet was specially called by his friends to India for the crime and was among the nine accused who had fired at Kahlwan. He escaped to Dubai a day after the murder,” he said. The police said Kulpreet was a notorious criminal and was wanted in six cases.
