MOHALI – After running from pillar to post for nearly nine months, a 19-year-old rape victim finally got success in getting her case registered with the Punjab Police.
The Mohali Police have booked four persons, including the victim’s boyfriend, under Section 376 of the IPC at the Phase 11 Police Station.
The victim, who was repeatedly raped by her boyfriend Ram Krishan and his three friends, had been making rounds of offices of various police officials at Abohar to get her case registered.
“Even the Punjab and Haryana High Court’s directions to the Abohar Police to take action against the culprits failed to move the police,” the victim alleged.
The victim had eloped with her boyfriend Ram Krishan, an ice cream vendor at Abohar, in March last year and come to Mohali.
“The accused put me up at Chandigarh, Kharar and then Mohali and repeatedly raped me. Later, his three friends raped me after serving me food laced with intoxicants,” she alleged.
