Jet Ski Accident On Fraser River Kills Prominent Indo-Canadian Businessman

Funeral services for well known Indo-Canadian businessman who died in a tragic accident last week will be held this Friday, Sept. 4, at the Five Rivers Funeral Home in Delta at 1 pm. Bhog will follow at India Cultural Centre (No. 5 Road Gurdwara) at 3 pm.

The LINK sources have confirmed that among the two people found unresponsive in the Fraser River in Richmond Thursday night and eventually pronounced dead is prominent realtor-builder Salinder Burmy. The BC Coroner’s office has now confirmed the identities of both deceased including that of Ramanjit “Bunty” Bachra, both of Richmond.

RICHMOND – A prominent Indo-Canadian businessman is among two dead after a jet-ski accident Thursday night.

The LINK sources have confirmed among the two people found unresponsive Thursday night and eventually pronounced dead are prominent realtor-builder Salinder Burmy, 56 and his friend Ramanjit “Bunty” Bachra, also 56, both of Richmond.The BC Coroner’s office has now confirmed the identities of both deceased

Burmy’s Linkdin profile lists him President; CEO at Presidio Land Development Corp. under the business category Land Assembly, Land Development, Investments and Project Marketing.

He is also described as a Professional Member at Urban Development Institute Pacific Region, Active Member at Real Estate Board of Greater Vancouver, Real Estate Trading  and Past Managing Director at burmtone technologies corporation.

Burmy studied at the University of British Columbia and some of the causes that he championed included  Children, Civil Rights and Social Action, Education, Human Rights and Poverty Alleviation.

Emergency workers were called to the shores of the Fraser River after two Indo-Canadians – realtor-builder Salinder Burmy and Bunty Bachra - were pulled unresponsive from the water on Thursday night.

The Richmond RCMP have confirmed that two men in their 50s were found dead in the Fraser River Thursday night.

Police say both men had head injuries, and a jet ski was found adrift near their bodies.

A commercial vessel captain first spotted the men on the south arm of the Fraser River near No.4 Road and the dyke shortly after 9 p.m. PT.

The crew of a coast guard hovercraft pulled them from the water, and CPR was attempted with no success. Both were wearing life jackets.

Police are not releasing identities until their families are notified.

Investigators are looking for anybody who may have witnessed what happened, but they do not suspect foul play.

Police say both speed and lighting could have been factors in the incident.

The RCMP and the BC Coroner’s Service continue to investigate this incident.
