Videos offering Reward On CM Prakash Singh Badal’s Head Surface!
CHANDIGARH – With videos putting a reward on the head of Chief Minister Prakash Singh Badal and his deputy Sukhbir Badal going viral, the government has decided to act tough with those posting such provocative material on the social networking sites and video sharing platforms.
The government is seeking legal opinion on how those posting such videos and sharing these can be booked.
Several videos have been posted, offering cash reward (in one case of Rs10 lakh) to any one who can “bring the head of Badal for his interference in religious affairs for political gains”. In a video, a woman warns people against attending the SAD’s “Sadbhavna” rallies, saying the rallies will “definitely be bombed, killing not just Badals but hundreds of others”.
Official sources, who have now started monitoring the internet, say these videos were illegal and meant to intimidate people. “Since most of these videos are uploaded in Western countries, we are contemplating taking help from international agencies,” said a top government source.
Sukhbir told The Tribune that the legal aspects were being examined. ‘We won’t spare anyone trying to intimidate people or incite religious feelings,” he said. He claimed the Punjab government had evidence of foreign agencies behind the recent congregation at Chabba village on November 10, and would share the same with the CBI.
