MOGA – A youth was arrested for allegedly raping a Dalit student of a nursing school in the district today, said sources. A case has been registered against Beant Singh, alias Bunti, of the same village. His mother Swaran Kaur and Gursewak Singh of Dashmesh Nagar, Moga, have also been booked for reportedly aiding the accused.
Swaran allegedly invited the girl to a birthday party at a house, where the accused raped her and kept her in captivity.
However, the victim fled from the house and narrated the incident to her parents. They then complained to the police and got the girl medically examined at the district hospital yesterday. Prima facie, the victim has been sexually abused. Thereafter, the police registered a case.
The investigating officer, ASI Charanjit Kaur, said Beant Singh had been arrested and further investigations were in progress.
