VANCOUVER – Police are encouraging the public and business owners and operators to remain vigilant following Tuesday morning’s attacks in Brussels, Belgium.

The threat level in Canada remains at medium. There is currently no specific threat to Vancouver or the Lower Mainland.

We continue to work closely with our policing partners, including the RCMP, the Integrated National Security Enforcement Teams (INSET), the Metro Vancouver Transit Police and other municipal police agencies.

“We all have a role to play in keeping British Columbians safe,” says VPD spokesperson, Sergeant Randy Fincham. “Vigilance is the key to everyone’s safety.”

The Vancouver Police Department will be deploying additional police resources throughout the city, following this morning’s attacks.

Anyone who sees what appears to be unusual or suspicious activity is encouraged to report it to their local police.

Anyone with information regarding terrorist activity in Canada is encouraged to call the RCMP National Security Information Network at 1-800-420-5805.
