TALWANDI SABO – Comedian-turned-politicians of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) stole the show at the political conference held here today. Sangrur MP Bhagwant Mann and Gurpreet Ghuggi launched a scathing attack on the ruling SAD-BJP government in front of a packed audience.
“Today is Baisakhi and Badals didn’t even leave the skin of dhol. They even took away its sticks. Sand, gravel, liquor — they are controlling every kind of business and industry in the state, including media,” said Mann.
Ghuggi’s sarcasm too evinced applause. “They even gulped the kerosene oil. People are left with only cards, there is no ration… But, I assure you that they won’t be able to digest the oil and we will put a wick into their mouths to burn the oil.”
Mann claimed that he had spent his Rs-5 crore yearly grant on constructing schools, dharamshala and roads, but his rival and Rajya Sabha MP Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa had recently spent Rs 2 crore on constructing benches. This had been done for villagers who have been left idle in the absence of jobs, Mann said. Now, the government should plan to distribute them free taash (playing cards) with pictures of Badal’s family members, he quipped. “We all know who is king, gola, dukki, tikki and begum. Bhunder, Rosy Barkandi others are dukki tikki,” he said. Mann also termed staging of dharnas by Akalis against AAP in Punjab as a warming up session as they would have nothing else to do but hold dharnas in the coming 10 to 15 years.
Other prominent speakers too termed today’s unprecedented gathering of people a sign of victory on all 117 Assembly seats for AAP in the coming elections.
AAP in charge of Punjab’s party affairs Sanjay Singh said it is only AAP which is not a family affair. He said the kingpin of drug mafia would be dragged to jail and all false cases registered would be taken back.
Delhi MLA and CPS Jarnail Singh alleged SAD and the Congress were misleading people on the demolition of ‘piao’ outside Gurdwara Sis Ganj Sahib in Delhi. He alleged that a BJP’s advocate had given an affidavit in the Delhi High Court for demolishing the same.
State party convenor Sucha Singh Chhotepur said Akalis and Congress men were deliberately trying to rake up issues pertaining to the SYL and piao to mislead the people because they know they have got nothing positive to offer to the people of Punjab.
Other leaders who spoke on the occasion were Aman Arora, Harjot Singh Bains, Baljinder Kaur, Jasbir Singh Bir, HS Kingra, GS Kang and Col CD Kamboj.
