If it is summer, it is time for festivals of colour – and festivals don’t come any more colourful than Punjabi Teeyan get-togethers, as women don their most colourful clothes to get together and celebrate a fun event.
Teeyan festivals are held all over North America during summer, and are usually well-attended affairs as South Asian women take the day off to take part in all sorts of fun activities.
One such festival was held recently at Elk Grove Park in California. There were lots of different activities, and the event was attended by more than 200 local South Asian women. And as these photos show, it was a truly colourful affair – literally and figuratively.
