NDP’s Make Or Break In Next May’s Election Could Be Decided By Their Fate In Surrey!
NDP needs to field a strong candidate in this riding and others in Surrey if they are hoping to gain both lost and extra seats in the fastest growing municipality in Metro Vancouver. Given that even a safe seat held by the party’s Jagrup Brar was snatched by Peter Fassbender in the last election with the help of a lot of Indo-Canadians as well as NDP not getting their vote out due to it’s supposed surge in polls, which was hyped by the media and turned out to be completely wrong or as some NDP supporters have said was a conspiracy by the media or the pollsters or both. But all Surrey seats will be up for grabs this time around given that NDP will be running as an underdog with an aggressive campaign that will be all about getting the vote out.

SURREY – The BC Liberals will field Surrey MLA Amrik Virk in the redrawn riding of Surrey-Guildford, which covers much of his old riding of Surrey-Tynehead.
“I’m thrilled to have another opportunity to represent the residents of Surrey-Guildford,” Virk said. “Surrey is a city on the rise. Representing B.C.’s fastest growing urban community in the legislature gives me the opportunity to bring our unique community priorities to light.”

Virk, who got into trouble for his previous role as Board member of Surrey’s KPU college-university, serves as Minister of Technology, Innovation and Citizens’ Services. In his role as Minister, he championed the very first BC Tech Summit, which attracted thousands of local and international technology professionals to the province.
He has also served as Minister for Advanced Education, spearheading the push for free e-textbooks in university classrooms.
Virk says he will continue to advocate for strong economic growth, well-paying jobs, improved transit, and developing strategies for housing affordability.
“Together we have accomplished a lot, but we still have more work to do,” continued Virk.
“Surrey is not just home to my constituency, but also to my family. I want them to be proud of their community and all it has to offer. I look forward in the coming months to working with our residents on their priorities as I prepare to fight again for the interests of Surrey in Victoria.”
The next provincial general election will take place on Tuesday, May 9, 2017.
