WHISTLER  – Every great film needs great music. The Whistler Film Festival in association with Music BC has issued the call for artists for the WFF Music Showcase (formerly the WFF Music Café), which will run during the 2016 festival taking place November 30th to December 4th.

The WFF Music Showcase includes evening showcases as well as pre-scheduled meetings with the music supervisors, and the possibility of additional performances during the festival. Up to ten export-ready, British Columbia songwriters and artists from across the musical spectrum will be selected to each play a live 30-minute set and meet with key international music and film executives and delegates attending the festival. The program offers a unique opportunity for the musical artists to perform for music supervisors of all filmed media looking for their next discovery, industry professionals from the film, TV, documentary, and music industries looking to put tracks on their next project, and film fans who love music. Launched in 2014, the program artists have included Little India, Morning Show, Wooden Horseman, Wil, Humans and more.

“WFF provides an intimate stage for some of British Columbia’s most promising musical artists to focus on song placements in feature films, TV shows, documentaries, and any filmed media, and to connect with filmmakers and music supervisors who can open those doors,” said Shauna Hardy Mishaw, Executive Director, Whistler Film Festival.

“Music BC is thrilled to once again to be partnering with the Whistler Film Festival to produce the Music Showcase as the festival has proven to be an amazing environment for BC artists to perform and expose their craft to top level music supervisors and film producers from around the globe,” Alex Grigg, Executive Director, Music BC Industry Association. “The BC music industry has thrived form the support and relationships in the film and television sector and we look forward to building on this for the future.”

The application deadline is September 30th at 5pm PST. Artists may apply online at whistlerfilmfestival.com or musicbc.org. Applicants must be current members of Music BC. Artists will be selected by a Music BC and WFF jury comprised of local music industry professionals.

The WFF Music Showcase is produced in collaboration with Music BC, funded by the Government of Canada through Western Economic Diversification, and sponsored by Creative BC, Gibbons Life and the Garabaldi Lift Company.

From November 30th to December 4th, the Whistler Film Festival will welcome film fans and filmmakers to experience its 16th edition featuring fresh films, special guests, epic events, unique industry and talent programs, and time to play in North America’s premier mountain resort destination.

The Festival’s online box office at whistlerfilmfestival.com/attend/ is now open for VIP Patron Passes and Advance Industry Passes, Ticket Packages, and Festival Credentials. Access to the WFF Music Showcase is open to industry and festival passholders as well as Festival Credential holders.
