FARIDKOT – The teaching and non-teaching women staff of Government Adarsh School staged a protest in front of the SSP office in Faridkot, demanding the arrest of the school manager.

On February 14, the Kotkapura police registered a case against Narinder Singh Randhwan, the manager of Adarsh School at Pacca village in Faridkot, for allegedly outraging the modesty of a woman teacher and forcing students to do labour work.

The protesting teachers alleged that the police were not arresting the accused under political pressure.

They said it was only after they protested in front of the SSP office for four days that the police were forced to register an FIR against the accused on February 14. They alleged that for the last over a week, the police were not arresting the accused even as he was threatening them.

Narinder Singh Randhwan is the manager of three Government Adarsh Schools at Pacca, Middumann villages of Faridkot and Ransih Kalan in Moga. The teachers in these schools have not got their salaries for the past five months.

It has been alleged that Randhwan started sexually harassing some women teachers of Adarsh School at Pacca village. When these teachers resisted this move and complained to the Faridkot SDM and the village panchayat, the chairman transferred these teachers to another Adarsh School at Ransih Kalan in Moga.

Deputy Commissioner, Faridkot, MS Jaggi ordered an inquiry. In the inquiry report, the Faridkot SDM had indicted Randhwan for sexual harassment of a teacher and forcing the schoolchildren in labour work.

Kotkapura SHO Paramjit Singh said the police were conducting raids to nab the accused.

MS Jaggi, Deputy Commissioner, Faridkot, said the matter of non-payment of salaries to the teachers would be raised with the Director General School Education.
