LINK Columnist Ken Herar gave a 10 minute presentation on the long history of the Sikh-South Asian community of Mission, as part of the Mission Moments Series in celebration of the cities 125th Anniversary to Mission Council on October 16th. He said, ” it was an honour to be asked to present. council and the rich history of diversity and our Indo Canadian community has given so much to the land. It was extremely difficult to combine all the greatness in such a short time, with personalities like Herman Braich and former mayor Naranjan Grewall. I feel it’s important to discuss our past collectively, it demonstrates that this is our home and we are proud of that. Sure, there were struggles in the 1980’s in building the temple or the crematorium and other projects. But, through these struggles, we have become a better community and quite an interesting story to share for the history books.”
