VANCOUVER – The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) is hunting for the killers of well known Indo-Canadian gangland figure Gavinder Grewal.

IHIT has identified two vehicles and two males, identified as South Asians, believed to be associated to the murder of Grewal.

On December 23, 2017, Gavinder Grewal was found dead from a gruesome killing in his North Vancouver apartment.  Grewal was known to police and associated to gang activity.  Investigators believe Grewal’s murder was targeted and linked to other gang violence in the Lower Mainland.

Grewal, 30, was found dead in a top-floor condo at Mountain Highway and Keith Road three days before Christmas. Investigators have not provided a specific cause of death, saying only that his injuries were consistent with homicide.

IHIT has gathered significant evidence and is looking to identify individuals involved in the murder.  Surveillance footage has identified two vehicles that investigators believe are associated to the murder of Grewal. They are looking for individuals who were in a 2003-2008 dark-coloured Lexus RX350.

Investigators have obtained surveillance images of two persons of interest associated to the black Nissan Titan.

They are described as: Unknown male 1 – South Asian approximately 20 to 25-years-old wearing a black jacket and a white shirt.

Unknown male 2 – South Asian approximately 25 to 30-years-old with a beard and wearing a toque and a dark jacket.

The men were seen in a 2016-2018 black Nissan Titan, which is one of two vehicles, including the  dark-coloured Lexus RX350, investigators believe are associated to the murder. Police did not say how the vehicles are tied to the murder, nor did they say what role, if any, the men may have had.

“We are asking the public’s help in identifying these two males or anyone associated to the Lexus RX350 or the Nissan Titan,” says Corporal Frank Jang of IHIT.  “There are people who have information about what happened to Mr. Grewal.  We urge anyone with information to please come forward and speak with IHIT so that we can hold those responsible to account.”

Anyone with information is asked to call the IHIT information line at 1-877-551- IHIT (4448), or by email at [email protected]. Should you wish to remain anonymous, please contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.
