Surrey residents and visitors celebrated the nation’s birthday with co-headline performances from fellow Canadians—rocker Serena Ryder and country star Brett Kissel—at the Surrey Canada Day celebration held July 1 at Cloverdale’s Bill Reid Millennium Amphitheatre.

The popular annual event featured over 25 live performances, amusement rides, an arcade party truck, an age friendly activity tent featuring intergenerational activities, live science demonstrations by Science World’s On the Road team, more than 40 vendors and community booths, food trucks and the much-anticipated fireworks finale.

“Surrey Canada Day has proved to be one of the greatest representations of national pride, diversity and community in the Lower Mainland,” said Mayor Linda Hepner.

“We are proud to offer residents and visitors a memorable holiday where they can experience live music, rides and a variety of activities for all ages.” The 2018 performance lineup included Toque, DJ Flipout, Warren Dean Flandez, Krystle Dos Santos and Terri-Lynn Williams-Davidson. Closing the Tim Hortons Maple Leaf stage was Play Surrey contest winners The Faceplants.
