SURREY – Muskaan Foundation Canada, an organization that takes its name from a little girl named Muskaan Gill, who was 8 years old when she passed away after she could not find a stem cell match.

She was diagnosed with krabbe disease and essentially could not find a match with about person of South Asian descent. So with this powerful story, we are committed to saving lives particularly with stem cell and blood donations. We are requesting for news coverage at our next event.

MFC is hosting their annual stem cell and blood drive to help save lives across the country. What makes this event unique is that it is not only a blood drive, but also a stem cell drive. So with this event, not only if one person donates blood that they can save up to 3 lives, but people can also treat chronic health illnesses such a leukemia or blood cancer. So essentially, many Canadians across Canada and the world are suffering from almost terminal illnesses that can be treated if they find the perfect stem cell match. The catch is though, majority of the time, a person only matches with another if they are from the same ethnicity.

For example, a South Asian will match with a South Asian, which is why it is incredibly important to let South Asians be informed about this.

This foundation has been committed to this cause for 3 years now after a little girl named Muskaan passed away from the lack of a stem cell match. It is absolutely critical to inform Canada as a whole about the future of medical treatments.
