The Komagata Maru Heritage Foundation hosted a Candle Light Vigil on remembrance of the 99th Anniversary of the arrival of the Komagata Maru to Vancouver, Canada on May 23. Many people shared their views on the centenial celebration next year.T his event took place at Bear Creek Pavilion. Speakers who spoke at the event included Harry Bains, Sukh Dhalliwal, Raj Toor, Amrik Mahil, Harpreet Singh and Harbhajan S Gill. All shared brief history and stories of the Komagata Maru incident and a candlelight vigil was held after the event after one minute silence in memory of our forefathers. Commemorative Komagata Maru t-shirts were handed out to all participants. Komagata Maru Heritage Foundation will raise funds during the Summer for the Surrey Food Bank.
