LUDHIANA – A 45-year-old native of Crewe town, United Kingdom (UK), who became a friend of a 32-year-old city resident through Facebook, a social networking site, died of lung infection at a local multi-speciality hospital on May 17. The deceased has been identified as Angela Christian. She had arrived in India on May 3 and was staying at the house of her friend Jaspal Singh.
On May 11, she was rushed to a private hospital after she fell ill. But her condition worsened and she was rushed to SPS Apollo Hospital on May 16 where she died the next day.
The matter came to light today when the local police informed the UK Embassy about Angela’s death. The police said, Angela, a mother of two, was divorced and came in contact with Jaspal on a social networking site. Arminder Singh, SHO, ruled out any foul play.
