There are some common sayings in Gurbani. Sangat may have some foggy idea as to the meaning but it is pretty safe to say they do not know the real meaning.

For example: CHARAN  KAMAL VASI  MERAY  CHEETAA? O God, may Your Lotus Feet dwell in my mind. Some times it is heart/mind. God has no feet. And, how can feet dwell in the heart/mind? So what is being said? We are told that you can perceive God in your heart/mind even though God has no form, no outline or physical existence.

This is how. Our brain is constantly bombarded by noise of maya. It shows up in the form of kaam, krodh, lobh, moh, ahankaar, deception, abuse etc. All these are forms of maya. With this noise of maya, thoughts of God are not likely to enter the mind. But if you start controlling and changing your behaviour, for example, by replacing kaam, krodh etc with virtues like truthful living, compassion etc, then the noise dims. If you continue doing this and become a virtuous person, then all that is left is pure thoughts, pure consciousness. This state is known as Dasam Duaar. With no outside distractions entering the mind, the brain makes tens of thousands of new pathways. It is a completely new and pure experience. This is what manifestation of God is. God dwelling in your mind means to gain Divine Knowledge through study, understanding and to live the Virtues. Become a virtuous person.
