Surrey’s inspiring young man Taren Singh Lal dies in tragic crash

Taren Singh Lal, a resident of Surrey, was driving home from work when he lost control of his car and died in a tragic single vehicle crash. Lal was identity was revealed online when various community members and sports clubs started posting about his death.
The 17 year old, is remembered as a loving son, protective older brother, unforgettable friend, and a beloved role model to those around him. A GoFundMe page has been created by Richard John to raise funds to support his family.
According to the fundraiser, Lal was driving home to his family after work on January 7. Due to poor weather conditions, Taren lost control of his vehicle near Fraser highway and 228 St and unfortunately passed away on the impact of his vehicle. 
The news of his tragic death spread across sporting community of Surrey and Delta, since Lal was a sport enthusiast and involved in the community through sports including wrestling, kabaddi, and weightlifting with hopes to join the police force in the future. A video of him playing in a Kabbadi link has also been posted on the fundraiser page describing it as “Taren’s proud performance in the sport he loved to play.”
Kal Dosanjh, founder KidsPlay Foundation remembers Lal as a young community leader. “Ever since I first met him, he was always about giving back. He volunteered often. He will be deeply missed. My heartfelt sympathies to his family.,” he said while sharing Lal’s picture on his Twitter.
Lal was a student of Tamanawis Secondary School in Surrey. Tamanawis Wrestling posted on their Facebook page, “We are devastated by the loss of Taren Lal, a beloved member of the Tamanawis Secondary community. Taren had a great love for sports, particularly wrestling and kabaddi, and was always eager to compete and give his best effort. He was a role model for his peers with his positive attitude and good character, and he left a lasting impact on all those who knew him. Taren’s passing is a tragic loss, and our thoughts and condolences go out to his family and loved ones during this difficult time.”
Hi Funeral will be held on January 21. The fundraiser has already reached its goal of raising $10,000. “Thank you to all from deep within our heart for helping us reach our goal. If anyone wishes to donate it is still within our sincerest gratitude to bring all this love and support to the family. We wish you all long lives with memorable moments with loved ones around you. Extra support will help assist his younger sister at the age of 12 and the communities Taren involved himself immensely in,” it stated.
