SUVA – The Australian government has introduced the Australian Visa Application Centres (AVACs) in Fiji to handle visa and citizenship applications.

It has been confirmed that there would be two centres รน one in Suva and one in Lautoka.

A spokesman from the Australian High Commission said those centres would provide convenient access to immigration and citizenship services for clients in Fiji.

“From September 26, all clients who wish to lodge Australian visa and citizenship applications in Fiji will do so at the AVAC located at Mid City Mall in Suva,” the spokesman said.

The establishment of a second service point in Lautoka will be a first in Fiji, and will be operational by the end of October.

The introduction of the AVACs is part of the Australian government’s efforts to improve its service delivery across the South Pacific with 14 AVACs in 11 countries opening in the coming months.

“All applications will continue to be assessed and decided by the immigration section of the Australian High Commission. Staff at the AVAC will have no involvement in the decision-making process or have any knowledge of the application outcome,” the spokesman said.
