PICS offers Self Employment Programs

PICS offers Self Employment programs where participants get support to translate their business ideas into successful operating businesses. 10 weeks of workshops are followed by support by an assigned Business Consultant during the launch period. Qualifying participants receive the training free of charge. (Funding provided by the Government of Canada through the Canada-British Columbia Job Fund.)

The program is open both to clients collecting Employment Insurance (EI) and those who are not eligible for EI. Qualifying criteria for the program for non-EI clients: 1. Immigrant or 2.Youth (15-29) or 3.Aboriginal or 4.Person with mental or physical barrier or disability. MOSAIC Celebrates 40th Anniversary

Festival MOSAIC is the grand finale capping off the organization’s 40 days of celebration commemorating its 40th anniversary.  The annual fundraising gala will take place Friday, October 14th at the Roundhouse Community Arts and Recreation Centre in Yaletown.

The event showcases global cultures through multi-ethnic art, entertainment, music and food.  The venue will be transformed into an interactive and immersive setting where guests can participate in hands-on artistic activities, and enjoy lively performances, which include West African dance from Kiss of Africa, Japanese drumming from Katari Taiko and Eagle Song Dancers performing a First Nations ceremony.

Festival MOSAIC 2016 takes place from 6-10 p.m. October 14th at The Roundhouse Community Centre, located at 181 Roundhouse Mews, in Vancouver. More information and tickets are available at www.mosaicbc.org/about/festival-mosaic/

PICS Offers Free WIMI 45 + Job Search Workshops for Mature Individuals

Are you 45 years or older, unemployed and live in Fraser Valley, Lower Mainland or South West of BC? PICS is offering an exciting free program called Workplace Integration for Mature Individuals (WIMI 45+).

This four week workshop/training will Increase your employment skills, get you valuable job search experience, will provide short term training and will also pair you with a mentor.

PICS offers IELTS classes

PICS is offering general and academic preparation classes for IELTS in Surrey starting July. The classes run for six weeks, Monday to Thursday from 4pm to 6pm.

IELTS general training test results can satisfy the requirements of the Immigrant, Refugees, Citizenship Canada (IRCC) if you apply for citizenship. The academic training test result is required for registration in some education courses.
