Canada And India Sign Over $1.6 Billion Of Commercial Deals

TORONTO – Over $1.6 billion of commercial agreements between Canadian and Indian companies and organizations have been signed and announced during Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Canada this week.

The deals cover a wide range of sectors, including aerospace and defence, education, energy, mining, infrastructure, sustainable technologies, and information and communications technology.

Some specific deals include: AMP Solar Group of Ontario signed a memorandum of understanding with Chennai-based conglomerate Sun Group to develop, own and operate 500MW of solar assets in India over the next three years; Quebec-based Azzimov Corporation signed a C$50 million joint venture partnership with Mumbai-based O4 Digital Media to offer an online video shopping platform for India; and Tata Consultancy Services investing C$100 million to set up a new innovation and technology commercialization lab in Toronto.

In addition, Clearford One Sanitation of Ontario announced four sewage treatment projects in India and both the Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec and the Canada Pension Plan Investment Board announced they plan to open offices in Mumbai.
