Small Business Week is underway in British Columbia with B.C. NDP leader Adrian Dix and CFIB BC Director Shachi Kurl drawing attention to the importance of shopping at small, independent businesses and bolstering local economies. Making the choice to shop at local small businesses – the heart of local economies – helps ensure jobs and your dollars remain in the communities where you live. “Small business punches above its own weight when it comes to the BC economy,” says Shachi Kurl. “Even though most B.C. small businesses operate with fewer than five employees, they contribute one-third of the provincial GDP and represent more than half of all private sector employment. CFIB’s 10,000 members in B.C. tell us they give back to their communities in other ways too: donating to local charities, sponsoring sports teams and supporting arts and cultural events.” (L-R in photo) NDP Finance Critic Bruce Ralston,  Executive Vice President CFIB Laura Jones, NDP Small Business Critic Jagrup Brar, NDP Leader Adrian Dix, Director Provincial Affairs BC & Yukon Shachi Kurl, Alessandra Quaglia, Provence Restaurant Alessandra Quaglia.
