As usual, Vaisakhi-2014 was celebrated by a huge gathering of the mosaic of Canadians in Surrey, BC to commemorate the founding of the Khalsa Panth at Sri Anandpur Sahib (Punjab, India) during the month of Vaisakh in 1699 by Guru Gobind Singh, the tenth Guru of the Sikhs. In spite of bad weather, 80 year old couple Dr Raghbir Singh Bains Drug Therapist and his wife Parmjit Kaur Bains were once again seen active in distributing fliers, contacting and addressing young boys, girls, their parents, Gatka parties, social activists, security forces and socio-religious groups to clean the society of the shameful hazard of drugs, and other social evils prevalent in the society. The ‘Bains couple’ was cheerfully received and welcomed by many teens and youth in general who were concerned about curbing the evils of drugs so that the message of peace and prosperity is largely spread in Canada.  It is reiterated here that drugs and adultery are taboos in Sikhism and thus the Sikhs are particularly required not to use alcohol, drugs and tobacco.
